2008 - Gibson Les Paul Custom 68 Reissue, Double Flame Maple, Cherry Sunburst

Gibson has been playing around with maple overload since 1974, with the not-brilliantly named "The Les Paul" model, and the Super Customs. This is inspired in some regards, but it's its own series based on the '68 Custom Shop reissue model. What makes it so special is the all-maple construction, with a ridiculously good looking 1-piece flame maple slab. Wherever you look, you get flame maple, including the neck. Supposedly Gibson swore they would not re-issue this model, so far so good, except for some NAMM show special one-offs. There's something special about a Les Paul with a 1-piece top and back, it's unusual in a spectacular way.
